Yesterday I wrote one whole page about how much fun we had celebrating my cuz's b'day and then when I tried to publish it....whooooosh something very strange happened...the page hung! so today I plan to keep it brief (no heartbreaks that way). I wanted to do a story about 26 bonded labourers who were rescued from UP...but I missed them when they were in Chennai...our madurai stringer has now done the story...the collector out there is one hell of a media savvy guy...he knows exactly where the bite will be cut...makes my job damn simple...anyways this story was about their rehabilitation...I would have liked to do it differently...follow one guy and talk to him about his experiences at the sweet/sweat shop. And now his new life with family and friends...There was this guy called marudupandi who was made to work for 14 years...14 good years...when he should have been playing like my cousin's son...he is 24 now...he must have never had time to play marbles, fly kites, look at girls fall in love...and he used to make sweets...These are times when I want a programme of my own...time enough to explore issues...what we did today was an Anchor VO SOT...which in a lay man's term translates to a paper clipping version of TV news. hmmmmm Anyways my lawyer friend is back from Andaman and I am waiting see his brother's marriage snaps and talk to him about the QMC case...I so totally enjoyed listening to the arguments...i just want to share it with him...so am going to do that over dinner...that's it for now hope I am able to publish it this time.
